Volunteer

The operations of the Chorale do not depend upon singers alone.  We welcome non-singing volunteers to join our ranks! There are numerous ways that you can become a part of our family.

Become a Member of the Chorale Bel Canto Guild

The Guild sponsors concert hospitality and refreshments, box office support at concerts, ushering at concerts, recognition of concert guest soloists, fundraising for Chorale outreach programs, and an annual membership event.

Guild members enjoy enhancement of their musical experience, use of their talents through volunteering, gathering with fellow lovers of choral music, promoting classical music in the community, outreach to young and new audiences, and observation of Chorale rehearsals.

Each Guild member receives the Guild Handbook and Directory, updates about Guild and Chorale events, invitations to Guild and Chorale functions, recognition in Chorale concert programs, and a CD recording of each concert.

Guild membership dues are $5.00 per year. If you wish to join the Guild, you may pick up a brochure at our next concert, or contact Karen Bourgaize, Executive Director, at (888) 460-9222 or by mail at Chorale Bel Canto, P.O. Box 451, Whittier, CA, 90608.

Become a Member of the Chorale Bel Canto Board of Directors

Chorale Bel Canto actively seeks committed individuals from its broader community to serve on its Board of Directors. The Board consists of 15 members and two ex-officio staff members. Chorale by-laws state that one-third of the Board be non-singing community members.

A term on the Board is three years. Terms are staggered so that one third of the terms expire at the end of a given year. At the conclusion of a term, the Board member may be invited to serve an additional term or terms.

The full Board meets four times per year. The Executive Committee meets monthly. Committees of the Board include Budget and Finance, Development and Fundraising, Public Relations, Performance, Membership, Sales & Marketing, and Board Recruitment.

Responsibilities of Board members include: safeguarding the Vision and Mission of the Chorale, establishing the direction of the organization, overseeing the management of the Executive Director, working to ensure that resources are adequate to meet the financial requirements of the Chorale’s annual operations, providing governance that ensures compliance with applicable laws, and monitoring program accountability and progress toward strategic goals.

Board members are expected to attend and participate in requisite Board meetings, attend Chorale performances and special events, serve on committees and task forces or undertake special assignments, maintain currency in regard to Vision, Mission, policies and programs of the Chorale, provide financial support to the Chorale, assist with fundraising and advocacy, and assist in recruit Board members and others to participate in the Chorale’s governance and activities.
